Gelataria

Published by Coconutkun under on 4/20/2009 11:02:00 PM
Recall the article about ah meng's bak kut teh that i mentioned having ice-cream right after that..well, it wasn't normal ice-cream that we were having at that time..We were having spaghetti ice-cream..haha, i am pretty sure i had your eye-brows raised right now...i did too when i was first introed to it..yes, you heard me right - spaghetti ice-cream..and it can be found in no other than Gelataria, Kota Kemuning..thanks to Yee Leng's recommendation, we were able to savour this unique dessert..and we're craving for more..cant wait to try their pizza ice-cream (need to order one day in advance...will cost us RM 40). The one you see here on the right is their vanilla flavoured spaghetti ice-cream with "tomato sauce" (actually its not tomato la, its almond/berry sauce). They have 8 different flavours for their spaghetti and their gelato options are not bad too..in fact, one of the finest..and minus the guilt too (typically, gelato has lesser butterfat than ice-cream)..the turnover from this stall is pretty fast in which they switch flavours constantly..itll take you sometime b4 you get to try all..and the price, reasonable..the outcome, Perfecto~...For location details, click here

Ah Meng's Bak Kut Teh

Published by Coconutkun under on 4/19/2009 02:09:00 PM
Cham loh...jogging two hours at TR, after that makan bak kut teh...the purpose is jogging is defeated..i think i gain more calories than what i loss..lepas tu, headed to KK (Kota Kemuning) to eat ice-cream somemore..felt guilty..tomorrow somemore going Tenji buffet..i have a 3-months pregnant belly..tomorrow will be 6 months already..who is responsible?

We all know that Ah Meng bak kut teh in Sentosa is famous..futhermore, its name is similar to my sailo's name - Ah Ming..i popped up this question while were eating here the other day; "what so nice about here?" Seems that none can answer..being a Klangite i am not an avid fan of Bak Kut Teh but then, i could recommend a few places that i know is good..this is one of them.. how do you actually judge the quality of Bak Kut Teh? One thing's for sure, the Bak Kut Teh at Ah Ming has really light soup thats full of flavour..is that it? i guess so lo..nice place for a casual breakie after a long jog...make u feel that you need to jog again in the evening to fully lose weight..

Starbucks Affrogato

Published by Coconutkun under on 4/19/2009 07:03:00 AM
The week around, it was the usual lepak@starbucks while waiting for sis to finish shop and for mom to finish giving tuition kinda routine..I have tried almost every single frappuccino there is on the menu..so, i popped this question to the guy serving me at the counter, asking him for recommendations, about their promotions.. he suggested that i could "customise" my own drink..hmm,okie..but what to add? the only customisation i always made was to reduce the sugar..then it suddently struck the guy to intro me the affrogato...affro what?..."affrogato, sir..its espresso with vanilla ice-cream blended"...Ooo, nama so hebat..and its not even in the menu..im impressed..next time, imma going to sqeeze dry of all the frap knowledge this guy has..i walked out of the cafe pretty pleased that day..learned a new drink name...after customising it with chocolate chip, whipped cream and less sugar..hence, the proper name to call this drink is the "single shot affrogato chocolate chip grande with cream, less sugar"..single shot refers to it being a single shot of espresso..you can have a double if u want more caffeine..Enjoy~

Sri Kembangan Salt baked chicken

Published by Coconutkun under on 4/18/2009 11:36:00 PM
At the time of writing this article, i am wondering whether the term Baked is correctly used.. its questionable without a doubt cos in chinese, its called Yim Guk Kai..Guk is definately not baked..and the way they are cooking it, i think its "roast"?..This is again another Ho-Chiak status stall (a popular dining programme). My verdict: i love it..but sometimes, the salt tak sekata wan (lit. meaning uneven distribution)..at certain parts, its super salty and at other parts, less salty..friends say that there are better ones at Klang! gotta discover that one out... the thing is, you dont get Yim Guk Kais around often at any place..its not a common dish you can find anywhere..I would vote this wan a good despite many commenting that its just normal..

the CAVE

Published by Coconutkun under on 4/13/2009 09:15:00 AM
Saturday (11th April 2009), Me, Ming, Kit, Lern, Suli, Soo Kim and Frank went to explore a CAVE in SS2..its was not like any other outdoor activity you see in the events i organised; this was actually a restaurant..lol..the event? casual dinner with the guys and a simple celebration for Frank's belated Bday.. the CAVE is still the talk of the town and people relate it as "its a couple place".. i would have to agree with that.. but my verdict on the CAVE is that i think they could do much better than that...

The Cave has a real interesting concept of dining in place; like its name, its interior is designed like a cave...this restaurant is more focused on fine dining, their menu consisting of a mixture of western and Japanese dishes (but they didn't quite make it there)..Before you enter the place, youre actually greeted by waiter with a walkie-talkie and then led into a series of hallways, stairs and paths, which really seemed as though you were entering some terrorist hidden hideout, only abit more romantic.

When we first booked the place,It was ridiculous when they first fitted us to a small room for 7 . Then, we moved on to a large dining table for 12 when some of Frank's colleague joined us..it felt great..i always liked private rooms..So, whadda we have here; we have our own room, we have our own private bouncer(pic on the left), some champagne, candle light dinner...sweet~

So back to the verdict. Everyone's been asking "how's the food?" and like what other ppl say...yes, its true..the food sucks..the service sucks too so, dont waste your energy pressing the call-button for the waiter to come..they NEVER arrive...for everything else e.g the unique design etc. heck, at least try this place once..its not bad actually...more pic to come..

MYOB nasi lemak

Published by Coconutkun under on 4/12/2009 10:40:00 AM
Cham loh~ thig blog is becomming a food blog...This time its MYOB nasi lemak ("Mind Your Own Business" nasi lemak...We'll its nicknamed so, because this stall doesnt have a name actually..mayb it does..but heck, no one knows...and everyone calls it MYOB nasi lemak..why? because an MYOB office outlet is located above the stall, hence, the MYOB nasi lemak..Located at Bukit Tinggi, this place is frequented by gamers from the nearby CC..i used to be one of them, but now i am old already..The thing about this nasi lemak is it packs hell of a punch to your taste buds..its in the SAMBAL and its damn good..the downside about this place is, is the place is really dirty....c'mon, clean up the place a little..but who cares, this place is always packed at night!
