Famous Tong Yuen, Bukit Tinggi

Published by Coconutkun under on 11/19/2009 07:18:00 AM
Well, if you think this picture looks wrong..then i guess it has got to do with your thinking..To me, its just a picture of two tong yuen balls and a spoon..for now, lets appreciate whatever picture i have for you, since this is the only one that i managed to snap..and its the best in town too..

Located in Bukit Tinggi, Klang the stall that sells these wonderful lil balls is situated in a corner lot restaurant called Hoo Bee..It used to be in a restaurant called 555 and before that, somewhere in Pandamaran..and before before that, Port Klang..wahaha..sucker!! So,at the time this article is written, the stall might no longer be there tim..but ppl still go the distance to hunt down the lady's famous tong yuen balls..as simple as the dish may seem, the fillings inside each ball is packed with nutty goodness..the soup, clear, light and very gula-melaka-pandan like.. Id opt for the gingerless soup anytime..but many ppl, girls especially, like the gingerful ones.. eeww~

Somehow id like to associate this dish with something that pregnant ladies would crave for during the night (as stereotype as might seem..but gladly, id buy my lady (if i had one) this anytime if she wanted to..fuyoh..)..well, another scenario more appropriately related to this dish would be rain..or rather, during cold weather..a hot bowl of these during cold rain weather would be perfect!

Using the same ingredients to make the tong yuen, another version of the dish would be the mua chee..the difference is, you have the same tong yuen dish, minus the soup, and generously have peanut powder overflowing the glutinous flour cubes..chewy and nice..
