FRIM I

At the time i am writing this blog, i am recalling the faces of how awed my students would get when i described to them about the jungle canopy..its something that you just cant draw on the whiteboard with a marker nor is it any good trying to explain..you have to see it for yourself to really appreciate it..but my little kids are really cute; some with their jaws wide open when i describe to them..I had the opportunity to see my first forest canopy during my f4 (or was it f5) school trip...and the memory remains until today..C'mon? what is this place?..this place is none other than FRIM (Forest Research Institute of Malaysia) in Kepong..

So, many Kepongites, same goes for ppl from around Kepong, flock FRIM for their routine morning walks. Companies, schools and organizations can be seen organising events here quite frequently as well. Even married couples come here to take wedding photographs!

FRIM offers quite a huge collection of tree species in its "sanctuary"; it wouldnt be a research institute if there are only a few. Here, they study about trees..educate people about nature..What is really interesting about this place is their canopy walk and their hanging bridge (this is a must go...watch out for my article on this COMING SOON)..there is also a museum, a few aboterums, nursery and a waterfall here-but those are side dishes..Comment: the waterfall will be a bit disappointing if you see where the source is from; its from a pipe..LOL.. But that aside, the are a lot of weird trees here.. This makes the place really interesting..Take a look at the collage and take for example this one on the right..Look carefully..its not painted..that's the real bark of a tree!
