Cameron trip
Published by Coconutkun under Traveling on 5/27/2009 08:58:00 PMFinally, some Cameron pictures are up.. So happy to edit and view them..so colorful right? Well, some pictures, especially the one of the right, wouldnt be made possible if it werent for the guys and girls who helped out..We had this during our first night in Cameron..clap clap..nice work ppl! Super organic meal and..artistic too ;) I hope this picture brings back some good ol' memories to some of the SEE guys..i miss organising BBQ with you guys..remember the sunflower jelly, garlic bread and coleslaw?
So, here we are at Cameron at the 1st of May 2009. Its Labour day! and its jam day for Cameron too..jam as in traffic jam..not strawberry jam..i have never been stuck in traffic in Cameron for so long in my life..So guys, pls avoid Cameron during holidays.. Of course, Cameron is famous for its flowers and fresh produce..or shall i say super fresh produce..which are reasonably cheap too.. Vegetables are sold at 15 packets for RM 10 (and girls, please learn to choose your vegetables ;) ). In fact, 10 ringgit almost satisfied 7 hungry stomachs for 2 meals..So besides the fruits, veges and flowers, there is of course their strawberries loh..not to mention the famous Cameronian Tea and lastly the sweet corn..Here are some fruits u might wanna look out too: apple guava, a few varieties of rock melon and citrus fruits.. So okie, you dont wanna miss out on the fresh stuff once youre here but make sure you have them bought at the end of your trip before you balik to wherever you came from - so they can survive the journey..
Our main purpose to Cameron this time was unlike any other typical Cameron trip that a normal person would have made..haha..We were there to conquer Mount Irau.. and boy oh boy, did Mount Irau really gave us some challenge. Imagine hiking 5 hours of hiking up down up down up down.. until your legs hurt..and dont forget you need to hike another 5 hours to get back.its that crazy! Surprisingly, my stamina was a-okay and the cold weather made it seemed as though we were hiking in an air-conditioned forest.. Because of the altitude, multitude, attitude and all the tudes, the forests of Mount Irau is really weird and unique..I call it the "Alien forest" for one, its full of moss..All the trees are full of moss. In fact, the earth we stepped on doesnt seem like soil. It seemed like semi partial layers of rotted moss and bio-degraded leaves that somehow broke down into finer composites that somewhat seemed like soil..WTH, i duno what i am typing..so, macam tulah we went on hiking for hours until we reached the top. Mount Irau is rated difficult for first time climbers. This place is a good traning ground for u guys who wanna train before going up KK or other geng punya mountain.... i would really rate this forest as really unique and special.. One tip from me is to bring some isotonic drinks to replenish yourself and make sure you always have a raincoat with you. It can get ridiculously cold when it rains and trust me, you do not want to be stuck here withour a raincoat.
At the end of this article, there is an uploaded soundtrack from the movie Princess Mononoke. The track is called Kodamas; named after friendly forest spirits. I think its a really nice piece from Joe Hisashi, the composer. I was constantly thinking of this song while hiking the forests of Irau..
