Bukit Melawati aka Tabur..

Published by Coconutkun under on 9/26/2009 09:23:00 PM
Thats me posing at the edge of the cliff , probably about a hundred plus metres above ground (to be more accurate, 200 metres above sea level). Any mistep would mean bye bye bye (N'sync tune~)..and this is my second time here..why would i come to this place again? because, its worth it..not that going this place is worth my life, but its worth la..The place? Tabur aka Bukit Melawati..a third time? err, no thanks..too risky ><"

I duno about you guys but i think there are two reasons to climb this hill..First: the scenery is awesome...seems like one of those scenery from those ancient China kungfu epic battle series kinda thingy...Second: climbing Tabur would mean that youre climbing probably one of the longest Quartz hill in the world..HELL yeah!whats better than climbing a giant cystal? I guess, you guys must be thinking "if i mine this place, i'd be rich!"..But actually, these crystals are nothing more than just clusters of quartz or silicon-oxygen tetrahedra (SiO4) la..common stuff..and when u think of it as it being just Quartz, its like "alah, quartz only ma..no big deal.."

As to hiking technical issues, i would rate this place anywhere from lower medium to dangerous..How come two extremes? cos the begining part of the climb is safe.. mid climb onwards gets tougher by the minute and up to points where youre life is dangling on a piece of rope or at the grip of your arms and shoes ..we're talking about a few hundred feet drop if you make any mistakes here.I would really recommend Tabur for great sunrise and scenery shots; which i think you can already know from the pictures in this article..Sunrise shots would mean that you'd have to start hiking about 530/600am in the morning(darkness)..hiking in the dark is possible because like i said, the earlier part of the hike isnt that difficult/life threatening (so, for beginners, mayb u can hike up until the part it starts to get dangerous, U-turn and go back using the same way u came from)...p.s.: Dont worry about missing the views as they can all be seen during the easy climb part..Go slow lo, if dun hurry actually is nothing wan..we went during ghost festival month tim ; )

Tabur has 10 levels actually..level 8 cheats because that level has an additional level called level 8+ ..the hike doesnt stop after level 10, so technically, there are more than 10 levels..Hiking @ tabur would require you to go light and have great hiking shoes..gloves are an advantage for those have precious tender nails/fingers..hiking during rain is STRICTLY PROHIBITED..hiking there with someone who is familiar with the place is recommend although not necessary cos its pretty straightforward actually..just keep following yellow sprayed arrows on rocks..which ultimately lead you to a downward jungle slope-->to someone's huge orchard/dusun-->basically, going round tabur hill and finally coming back to the place where you started..I found the dusun particularly interesting because the place is filled with different kind of fruit trees..If u can recognise fruit trees like i do, you'd find rambutan, durian, petai, starfruit, cempedak, ciku and mangosteen trees..

As for location details, all i can tell you is that Tabur hill is located near Taman Melawati which is pretty near the Zoo Negara (National Zoo).I cant help you on details on the direction; other websites can ..but what i can tell u is that, the hill borders 2 very different view..on one side, the city..and the other, nature..the catchment of water seen here is actually a dam that supplies water to the city..interesting ya?..Lastly, the last few photos illustrates the dangers of Tabur and some of the group pictures taken for both of my hikes (for da record)..Looking back at the pictures make my knees wobble;i cant believe i did that,2 times somemore..but it was really great experience..Notice some pictures how high this place can be..

KLAFZ, Kota Kemuning

Wokie, this is gonna be a short one..KLAFZ cafe at Kota Kemuning.A designer's cafe with real nice ambiance for casual dining.. Remember Gelateria? well, Klafz is somewhere around (address: 10 Jalan M 31/M, Kota Kemuning)..you cant miss this place since 5 huge alphaberts spell out K.L.A.F.Z right in front of the restaurant...The cafe serves nice desserts and western dishes.. a nice cozy place to chill with friends...and the chef was real nice too; personally coming out to attend to us..Come to think of it, i think KK has good potential for food outlets. Two are already on the checklist, more coming soon?

OMG, Broga again..

Published by Coconutkun under on 9/11/2009 09:00:00 PM

OMG, its Broga again..practically, i think ive been here for the gazillionth time..From the time i first came here, sesated with Yee Ling and Ming 5am in the morning till becoming a tour guide for about 4 groups now..anyway, Broga is still a nice place; you can never fail to get nice shots here..

As for the tour guide thingy, i wasnt here to be one again, i have enough of this place but, wat to do..I wasnt here because of choice..Initially, we wanted to conquer Tabur but ended up here because Melawati was raining..wtf..Ever since, i have climbed Tabur 2 times now and seriously, no Tabur when it rains(unless u dont care about your life)..So back to Broga, instead of the usual Broga hike-ikan bakar routine, we extended our trip to include a nearby temple, which i think its worth mentioning..real nice lil Kuan Yin temple they have here..and its just down the road straigh up til the end...the temple overlooks some mountains (probably Broga as well) which is neat..Can come here tukar baju too (after hiking) ><., but dun forget donate ya ;) .Acknowledgements to Che Wey for the nice pictures seen here.. ..p.s:im using ur sunflower shot as wall paper..Cheers!

Waterfront, Desa Park City

Published by Coconutkun under on 9/01/2009 10:08:00 PM
Two views of the same place; one night, one day...The day shot looks nice but i'd really recommend the night Ver..which is more romantic..as green and cool as the day shot might seem, its really sunny, bright and hot !..you would find yourself scrambling for air-cond at the cafes and restaurants; for a cold drink or ice cream(which is really great as well)..I think the night one is pretty cool, i knew i was impressed the first time i came..Thanks to Jo for the idea..This trip came after visiting the crabby place in Kepong which isnt that far from here..Desa Park City is a township area actually; a guarded community with nice houses. The Waterfront on the other hand, is a small park built inside this township which caters for probably recreational activities for the community; probably extending to some dining and some shopping.. I think this place is a great place to dining and chilling out, especially @ the balcony which overlooks the small lake..Do check out the Italian and Japanese restaurant, i think it should be great (from the looks of it, trust my judgement >.- )...

Cendol Klang

Published by Coconutkun under on 9/01/2009 07:22:00 PM
This lil bowl of cholesterol will make u go gaga~ for more..Yeah, its the notorious cendol alright..a definate no no for those concious abt health..i guess its nothing more than santan (coconut milk) with gula melaka, red beans and the green stuff (cendol). This particular cendol seen here in the pic comes from the infamous Cendol Klang..Somehow ive got a few friends who actually dislike this cendol (as Ming would say it, "to each their own")..cos if it wasnt nice, how do you explain the long queue? I think ppl just got bored of it after eating for several years..lol..anyway, the cendol here comes in a few innovative varieties: with added pulut, ice cream or with some other add-ons such as jelly and nuts..Aside from cendol, this shops sells other stuff but nothing much worth mentioning except the rojak, which is great as well..Lastly, you can expect moderate cleanliness from this outlet which i think they could do better than that..
