Paddington house of pancakes

Published by Coconutkun under on 2/28/2009 09:43:00 AM
As some of you might already have known...besides traveling, i also love food!! typically, i like to explore new restaurants and taste new flavors...so be prepared, there's gonna be lots of pictures of food!!..anything i eat, you will see...as far as taste and smell are concerned, i cant help you there..to feel the food, touch the screen lo...haha...

The first to make it to the blog would be this dish from Paddington house of pancakes in MidValley..they have other outlets in 1U, Curve etc. This dish in particular would be their pacific dory..or was it Alaskan Pollock..oh darn, i am getting old...ive been there a couple of times and if i go to a place a couple of times, it means i like it =)...the food is slightly pricey..slightly oni.. and everything in this place is pancake-based: pancake with ice cream, pancake burgers, steaks with pancake, bacon & ham with pancake...pancake pancake pancake @.@". Luckily their drinks are not pancake based..

Pic: Restaurant setting..ps:Their waiters always lepak at the corner there...

The first time i went to this place was with my lui lui (mei jing) and we ordered the one in the pix(top right). This one was their lighter option which was really great..Most Malaysians will get the idea that pancakes are meant to be sweet.. In fact, they can be made crispy, thick, thin , sweet, salty and in any way that complement the dish that it comes with..and Paddington pancake house HAS found the way..

Short trip to Penang

Published by Coconutkun under on 2/27/2009 06:37:00 PM
16th February 2009. Sand, sea, sun and girls...well, okie, girls didnt start with "s" but wth...and perhaps, u could add traffic jams, food and jelly fish into the equation too..the result? Penang...The Pearl of the Orient..its been quite awhile since i last went to Penang..I was called up for an interview and if it werent bcos of it, i guessed i would have missed a great deal of catching up to do with my old uni pals. The plan was simple; 2 days 1 night trip...attend the interview and back to Klang..

So off i went to Penang for this interview. I took me six hours to travel from Klang to Penang by bus..and throughout the journey, i helped Nepalese men troubleshoot their handphone sim card problems in the bus..i think next time ill charge for the service...and gosh, these guys had PDAs..its even better than my Sony Erisson..wtf..curi ke?

Pic: Penang bridge undergoing widening..its about time!!

When i reached Penang, news that i was coming to town spread like wildfire within my ex-coursemates pals residing in Penang..I guess it could be attributed to a technology called "email"...or was it spamming...Lol...Boy, i really missed you guys...and chillin with you guys just brings me back to the good ol' days...

Ask anyone in Malaysia and theyll tell ya that Penang is a place of food...I was meant to post some pics on Char Kuey Tiews, Har Mee and ikan bakar, but i think ill just skip those cos the pictures didnt come out that good actually (cos they were taken in the dark -dinner time).. Anyways, here's one pic which i thought might be interesting..it isnt Penang's specialty but its enough to get ya thinking "Ew, what's that!!".. Well, its grilled horseshoe crab..least would i have known that we were eating her eggs actually...poor thing...if only i knew that she were pregnant. How did it taste like? it tasted like typical "hai kou" or literally crab eggs but lil on the burnt side..i wouldnt recommend it cos every fork of it tasted like you were chompin' down tons of cholesterol..super sinfull..My day ended with me hanging out at Queen's bay mall after my interview ..i didnt really had much time to visit Kek Lok Si, Siamese Temple and other popular places in Penang..Here are some pics for the record...cheers!

Broga Hills

Published by Coconutkun under on 2/18/2009 07:04:00 PM
Finally, pink is blogging..."stop posting pictures on fb la...at least write some story ma"..."hey, do you blog?"..."Blog la, so i can have updates on you"...These are some of the things friends keep telling me...but anyway, i like to post pictures...so, this is just an extension of my interest.. In any case, lets cut the crap and start with recent stuff ive been doing lately...

9th Feb 2009, Chap Goh Mei day and the day after thaipusam day, ming, yee leng and i decided to go to Broga to watch the sun rise...Probably u might have already guessed, we left super early to greet the sun that day(430 a.m).. the journey to broga took abt an hour an a half from Klang. We had a few misturns but it was overall an easy drive (considering no nut will drive at this time)...and asam sweets can really keep the driver awake..

Pix: Heaven and earth; taken at broga

Yee leng was a new addition to the hiking group..so we decided to give her a new nickname and theme song..thanks to Ming, her name was henceforth known as MUSHTARO!! (mushroom + hamtaro = mushtaro)...and the theme song had Kamen Rider - go go let's go!! tune to it...very retro - see vid for the ori Kamen rider song... Anyway, there were two possibilities why Yee leng was so hyper that day..it could have either been the new theme song that we just gave her or perhaps the Jasmine + Lux ~perfumed water she was drinking all the way...Lol

Anyway, the hike to broga was "meant" to be easy...10 minute walk, 20 minute uphill...unfortunately, what was supposed to be 30 minute hike ended up an hour cos we got lost...the thing about broga is, the road that didnt seem to be to way, was infact the way!..The picture on the left is a pic of broga in the dark (Haha, i noe..its lame) ...so anyway, we were lost in some rubber plantation..for first timers, if youre in a rubber plantation, then you're heading the wrong way!..And guess what? we met some other sesat ppl in the darkness too..or were they ppl?...hmmm...But the thing is, getting lost in the jungle in the middle of the darkness was really no joke....i kept thinking about the witch from the game life4dead..wouldnt want to bump into those in the jungle (watch the second clip to see da "WITCH!!")

And so we were lost along with some other ppl...now that i noticed, these guys in the pix really DONT HAVE LEGS leh..O.o"..neway, the hill at the backdrop was suppose to be the hill we were suppose to climb..and sadly, the sky was already getting brighter..we missed the sun that day..BUT...we didnt give up just yet...we were determined to to climb Broga hill even though we missed the sunrise...AND our efforts paid off...the scenery at Broga was breath taking...Well, pictures tell more than words, so ill probably spam pictures from this point onwards

The place where we "sesat"ed had quite nice views as well

Heading on the right path...
Nice flora..pic by Yee Leng

Can you find a face in the picture on the right?
